Trendy Tuesday ~ Nautical Style

Hello everyone and welcome to our third instalment of Trendy Tuesday.

This we will be looking at Nautical Trends and style. Nautical has been everywhere in the last few years, a trend for everything from clothing to house design!

http://www.lemondropblog.com/2013/05/21/modern-nautical-etsy-style/
Here you can see the amazing versatility of nautical style!!!

Our dolls are totally into nautical but, amazingly, I could only find two (modern) nautical outfits in our entire wardrobe! (We'll have to change that..)

Marie~Grace is wearing an adorable striped bathing suit and jelly sandals from Our Generation. Her fabulous sunglasses are from American Girl.

McKenna is wearing a t-shirt that Honey sewed and I painted (with t-shirt watercolors- so cool!). The shorts are from Closet4Chloe. Her boots are from a retired Addy outfit.

These outfits are two of my favourites from our entire collection!!! To see the story of the anchor tee, read this blog post we made last summer.

Are your dolls looking to add some nautical flair to their wardrobe? Here are some etsy items to check out:

1. Sloppy burnout tee, nautical capris, pearl and glass bead necklace, $18 from LollyDollyDesigns
We love the anchor design on the pants and the free flowing look of the shirt. They come together for
an adorable casual look we can't get enough of.

2.  Nautical Summer Set with Sandals, $26 from MyGirlClothingCo
The button detailing on the crisp white pants is amazingly chic and the cut of the shirt is fabulous! This outfit is great for a day on the town or on the shore.

3. Sleeveless Cropped Top, $8 from dollupmydoll
With crop tops so "in" lately, this shirt seemed perfect to pair with some jeans, or a circle skirt. The splash of red is also just so fun!

4. Trendy Blue Tan Floral Diamond Colorblock Skirt, $11 from Closet4Chloe
This doesn't scream nautical on its own, but if you paired it with an anchor tee as we did with McKenna's short, you could get a pretty cute sea themed outfit. We love the double buttons at the top of the skirt!

5. Nautical Shoulder Bag, $16 from MyGirlClothingCo
This purse would be an adorable seaside splash for any outfit your doll might own. We love the anchor detail on the button that matches the fabric of the purse so perfectly!

See you soon!

Trendy Tuesday ~ Tribal Prints and Boho Style

Hello everyone and welcome to the second installment of Trendy Tuesday!

Today we will be looking at Tribal Patterns and the styles that come with it.
www.maggiegodwin.com
Tribal has been a popular print/style since last summer. Our doll's don't actually own any tribal clothing but Addy owns one pair of pants that meld well with the tribal style.

Addy's harem pants weren't made with a tribal print pattern, but that cut of pant is often used with a tribal fabric.
Tribal Print+Harem Pants
Looking to add some tribal flair to your doll's wardrobe? Try these etsy items:

1. Coral Tribal Geometric CROP LEGGINGS $8 from Closet4Chloe

Leggings have been a very popular item to be coupled with tribal print. We think that the colors on these leggings are superb and work perfectly with the sandals pictured above.

2. 18'' Maxi Skirt with Yellow Ruffle Sleeve Shirt and Hair Tie, $15 from MyDressedUpDoll

The tribal print of this maxi skirt is a little bit more subtle, using faded lines and lacking the contrasting black present in many tribal prints. We love how it is unconventionally paired with flower accents for a very elegant look.

3. tribal print off the shoulder tee shirt, $12.95 from Upbeat Petites

This was a fun variation since we saw tribal used mostly for bottoms such as pants and skirts. We love the two shades of pink used and the shorter cut.

4. Aztec, Tribal, Maxi Skirt, $10 from LoriLizGirlsandDolls

We love the colors on this maxi skirt! They are very sophisticated and lend themselves well to the more tapered print used on the skirt. Overall, maxi skirts are a great way to use tribal prints, since their length displays the entire pattern.

5. tribal print dress with mesh sleeves, off white mesh leggings, $12.95 from UpbeatPetites

We thought this was an interesting and edgy way to use tribal print. The look isn't for us, but someone with a lot of pizzaz could most certainly pull of this ensemble.

6. black tribal print dress, $9.99 from UpbeatPetites

We loved the way the black frames the tribal panel on this dress. The cool blue and purple colors also cool off this edgier style. This dress is a great way to adapt a casual pattern for more formal occasions.

 See you next time!

Trendy Tuesday ~ Floral Patterns

Welcome to Trendy Tuesday, everyone!

Today we are going to talk about a trend I had seen, but didn't really notice 'til Etsy pointed it out for me.
Thank you for doing my work for me, Etsy.
The more I thought about it, the more I realized that florals really are "in"right now. With that in mind, I raided my doll closet to see what we could pull together in terms of floral themed outfits.
Addy, McKenna, Taryn, and Cecile
Aside from looking great with Cecile's eyes, I love how this outfit gives off a mature vibe while still feeling fun. This is largely due to the style of flowers used on the dress. These flowers are stylized and playful, making the entire outfit more fun.
Taryn's look has a somewhat boho feel, what with the flower crown and lace up boots. Both her top and skirt have a more realistic flower pattern to them, lending a more sophisticated look to the whole ensemble.
This outfit was a no brainer, since we bought it from American Girl ready assembled. The flowers on this outfit are just one of the many details, but I think they add an air of whimsy to the whole ensemble.

Addy's outfit is very coordinated and features flowers quite prominently. The flowers on her dress are semi-realistic, and not as sophisticated as Taryn's. Her outfit looks like it could come from the junior's section in a department store.

Are your dolls looking for some floral options this spring? Here are a few...
1. Gray Coral Floral Sleeveless Princess SKATER DRESS for 18 Inch from Closet4Chloe
This dress is oh so trendy, and a perfect cut for summer. It also breaks from the usual elegant styles usually used for florals and is more urban.
2. Floral and Lace Sleeveless DRESS from Closet4Chloe
This dress is perfect for a tea party, has a retro twist, and uses florals in both lace and fabric! We love the mixture of colors and idyllic country style it evokes!
3. Delicate Garden - Skirt Set for American Girl from cupcakecutiepie
What an adorable outfit! The skirt and shirt are a perfect match, and so elegant too! We love the three quarter sleeves and ample use of lace.
4. Summer dress and shoes made to fit 18" American Girl doll from menabella
The pintucks on the front of this dress are adorable, and this dress is another great use of lace and flowers in tandem. We especially appreciate the two layers of the skirt, giving the dress an unusual fulness.
5. Summer Shirt- Pink- Floral from daisychainsdoll
This cute shirt has great colors and is a breath of fresh air since florals are being used so heavily with skirts and dresses.

I hope you enjoyed the first Trendy Tuesday! Stay tuned, next week we look at Tribal Prints and Harem pants!
